Description
A very rare pair of 1880 patent 12-Bore Round-Action Non-Ejector serial number 4097/8. 28in Sleeved nitro barrels, the ribs engraved JOHN DICKSON & SON INCORPORATING MORTIMER & SON EDINBURGH. 2 1/2 in. chambers and 1/2 choke, Dickson 1880 patent round actions, patent no.294 of 23rd January 1880, use numbers 186 and 187, built on 1st patter patent ejector actions. Top levers engraved '1' and '2', gold pin cocking-indicators. automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE" details, profusely engraved with fine acanthus scrollwork and with the makers name in scrolling banners, brushed finish, 14 3/4 in. figured stocks with horn heel plates on both. Guns have just had a full strip, clean, oil and refresh of wood by John dickson and son. The guns were delivered on the 8th of August 1887 to the 10th Marquis of Tweedale.
